This was the first Grand Prix entry by Mercedes that was naturally aspirated, and eventually the 2.5L straight-8 engine went on to make 340hp at 10,000rpm.

This exact car, raced by Juan Manuel Fangio, sold at auction this past July for £19.7M, or $31.7M.
